Notes from the President

Welcome to the Knoxville Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA)!

The mission of the EGA is inspiring passion for needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage.

We welcome all persons interested in the art of embroidery from historical samplers and beginning stitches to crewel, cross stitch, hardanger, blackwork, beading, freestyle and fiber arts. Membership dues including chapter, regional, and national dues are $60 per year due at the April quarterly chapter meeting. If a new member joins after June 1, dues will be prorated quarterly. EGA publishes Needle Arts, a quarterly magazine, and distributes the EGA Newsletter electronically. “Petit Projects” can now be accessed thru the EGAUSA.org website.

The Knoxville chapter is a very active EGA group and able to offer information and classes on a variety of techniques through a number of monthly interest groups that meet at different times and locations. Our membership covers a wide area around Knoxville from Morristown in the north, Maryville and Sevierville to the east, and Loudon to the south. A member may attend as many interest groups as her or his schedule permits.

We also offer a variety of national group correspondence courses, guest teachers, retreats, exhibits, and community outreach programs in addition to assisting with regional/multi-state seminars.

Our quarterly meetings of the full chapter are held on the second Tuesday in the months of January, April, July and October. We meet at 6:30 at Messiah Lutheran Church at the junction of Papermill Road and Kingston Pike (across from P.F.Chang’s) in Knoxville, Tennessee. Please check the Master Calendar for exact dates and possible changes due to conflicts.
