- Dec TBD: Members’ Tea
In addition to the chapter-wide meetings, Knoxville EGA has multiple interest groups that meet monthly in various locations. A non-member is allowed to attend two meetings before becoming a member. Members may be part of as many interests groups as they choose.
Bead Buddies: All levels of beading, 4th Tuesday of month, White Fox Beads, 6:00-8:00 p.m. We have a monthly project which is basic to intermediate.
Blount Needles: 3rd Monday of each month, TN Bank Community Room, Maryville, 6:30-8:00 p.m. We enjoy doing beading, cross stitch, and a variety of other needlework techniques. Besides working on individual projects, as a group we make at least one set of ornaments for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Fantasy of Trees. We also stitch decorative pieces for the Blount County Habitat for Humanity as gifts to new homeowners.
Canvas: All levels of canvaswork, 1st Wednesday of each month, Bearden Public Library, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Concord: All levels of beading and stitching, 3rd Monday of each month, St. Elizabeth’s Church, Farragut, Starts at 10:00 a.m.
Fiber Arts: 4th Wednesday of month, JoAnn’s in Knoxville, Starts at 10:00 a.m
Freestyle Day: Non-counted embroidery, 2nd Wednesday of the month, Various locations, Starts at 9:30 a.m. Members of the Freestyle group have a common interest in stitching but express that interest by joining stitching with other fiber-related techniques. By sharing the results of these combinations we inspire one another to look for more methods, more materials, and more new combinations of “stitching plus.” Our only guideline is that our work should always be original.
Morristown: All levels of stitching, 1st Friday of the month, member’s private home, Starts at 10:00 a.m.
North Knox Day: All levels of stitching, 2nd Monday of the month, Fountain City Library, Starts at 10:00 a.m.
Sampler: 2nd Thursday of the month, Bearden Branch Library, Starts at 10:00 a.m.
Smoky Mountain: All levels of stitching, 3rd Wednesday of the month, King Family Library, Sevierville, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Thread Ed: All levels of stitching, 3rd Tuesday of the month, JoAnn’s, West Knoxville, Starts at 5:30 p.m. This group explores various stitching techniques to learn, share and experience together.
Twilight Threads: All levels of stitching and beading, 1st Tuesday of the month, JoAnn’s, West Knoxville, Starts at 6:30 p.m. For those who prefer an evening meeting in the Knoxville area, we’re it! We represent all levels of ability and do individual and group projects–some free style, some counted and beading. We also support the outreach projects (e.g., bookmarks for libraries and ornaments for Fantasy of Trees.) So far we have done some free style, hardanger, cross stitch and pulled thread.
West Knox Day: All levels of stitching, 4th Tuesday of the month, Various locations, Starts at 10:00 a.m.
