Interest Groups

Please note that below schedule is general, and individual meetings may shift location, date, or start time. It is best to guests to contact us through EGA’s Facebook page prior to attending an interest meeting

Bead Buddies: All levels of beading, 4th Tuesday of month. Messiah Lutheran Church*. 6:00-8:00 p.m. We have a monthly project which is basic to intermediate.

Blount Needles: 3rd Monday of each month. Blount County Library, Maryville. 4:00-7:30 p.m. We enjoy doing beading, cross stitch, and a variety of other needlework techniques. Besides working on individual projects, as a group we typically make at least one set of ornaments for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Fantasy of Trees.

Canvas: All levels of canvaswork, 1st Wednesday of each month, Messiah Lutheran Church*. 10:00 a.m.-noon

Concord: All levels of beading and stitching. 3rd Monday of each month. St. Elizabeth’s Church, Farragut. Starts at 10:00 a.m.

Fiber Arts: 4th Wednesday of month. Messiah Lutheran Church*. Starts at 10:00 a.m

Freestyle Day: Non-counted embroidery. 2nd Wednesday of the month. Meets at members’ homes. Starts at 10:00 a.m.  Members of the Freestyle group have a common interest in stitching but express  that interest by joining stitching with other fiber-related techniques.  By sharing the results of these combinations we inspire one another to  look for more methods, more materials, and more new combinations of “stitching plus.”  Our only guideline is that our work should always be original.

Sampler: 2nd Thursday of the month. Messiah Lutheran Church*. Starts at 10:00 a.m.

Smoky Mountain: All levels of stitching. 3rd Wednesday of the month. King Family Library, Sevierville. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Thread Ed: All levels of stitching. 3rd Tuesday of the month. Messiah Lutheran Church*. Starts at 5:30 p.m. This group explores various stitching techniques to learn, share and experience together.

Twilight Threads: All levels of stitching and beading. 1st Tuesday of the month. Messiah Lutheran Church*. Starts at 6:00 p.m. For those who prefer an evening meeting in the Knoxville area, we’re it! We represent all levels of ability and do individual and group projects–some free style, some counted and beading.  We also support the outreach projects (e.g., bookmarks for libraries and ornaments for Fantasy of Trees.)   So far we have done some free style, hardanger, cross stitch and pulled thread.

West Knox Day: All levels of stitching. 4th Tuesday of the month. Meets at members’ homes. Starts at 10:00 a.m.

Where Stitchers Count: All levels of stitching. 4th Monday of each month. Tellico Village Chota Rec Center.  10 a.m.-noon.  If you live in Loudon, Monroe or West Knox Counties, WSC is an active interest group of stitchers who enjoy all sorts of needlecrafts.  We participate in some group projects (beading, cross stitch, pulled work, quilting, and other techniques) and support EGA outreach programs–making  bookmarks for local libraries and ornaments for the Knoxville Fantasy of Trees. We encourage members to bring show and tell every month and enjoy  learning and sharing old and new stitching techniques. Any month we do not have a group project, members bring their current personal project to work upon.
*Messiah Lutheran Church is located at 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN – at the corner of Kingston Pike and Papermill Road.
